Mike Palmer Homes is a custom home builder based in Denver, NC, serving Lake Norman and the greater Charlotte area. For nearly 30 years, Mike has built custom homes for families and empty nesters who want a home that fits the life they’ll actually live.
He started as a subcontractor. He didn’t like the corner-cutting and crooked dealing he watched other builders get away with, so he set out to build the way he believed it should be done. Then he built his own family’s home and never looked back.
What sets the work apart isn’t a claim to “finest quality.” Mike thinks that’s a given. It’s judgment: knowing how a home should sit on its land, how you’ll want to live in it in 10 years, and how to get you the most home for your money without spending a dollar you won’t enjoy. What guides every home we build
Start with the land, not the plan
We won’t drop a stock plan onto a lot it doesn’t fit. Before a dime changes hands, we study the topography, the views, and how you’ll actually live on the site. And we’ll tell you if a lot won’t work, even when it costs us the job.
Quality is the floor, not the pitch
Every builder claims “finest quality.” We think that’s a given, not a selling point. Waterproofed foundations, a driveway and garage that work, no shortcuts covered up. That’s the baseline you should expect, not the thing we brag about.
Nothing hidden, good news or bad
We keep open books: the pricing spreadsheet, plus a complete file of every invoice and canceled check (attorneys have called us “an absolute unicorn” for it). Every home we build goes on YouTube. And when something’s wrong, we own it. We’ve torn out and redone work at our own cost rather than leave you a problem you don’t know about.
Partnership runs both ways
We pay our subcontractors right and on time, which is why the good ones have stayed with us for years and the work holds up. We treat customers the same way: as partners in the build, not a sale to close.
